Hill Mathieson are a firm of Loss assessors regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority – just like your insurance company and any other large established Financial Organisation. As a Loss Assessor, we are appointed by you, the consumer, and act purely on your behalf. Your insurance company will appoint a Loss Adjuster who will act on behalf of the insurers and is responsible for overseeing the claim. Immediately, there is a disadvantage since the Loss Adjuster is overseeing the claim and looking after the insurers’ interest. We, as Loss Assessors, will always act exclusively for you to ensure your interests and a full and fair settlement is obtained for your claim.

Nothing! We charge nothing to manage and restore your property providing you allow us to appoint our Repair Network Contractor to complete the works. If you require trace and access to find a leak, subject to your insurance policy coverage, we’ll even cover this cost through our network repair contractor.

It’s not mandatory or a requirement of your Insurance Policy (and your insurers would prefer for you not to appoint us at all!) but we add value by taking away the stress of making the claim, dealing with contractors, insurance company call centres, and the Loss adjusters. We work purely for you to ensure you benefit from the full conditions of your insurance policy taken out for your property, including an equitable financial settlement which allows your property to be restored to a pre-loss condition.

You don’t have to appoint us at the start of your claim (although it is more beneficial for you and the claims process), but if you choose to appoint us part way through your claim, you can do.

We have nationwide coverage with our professionally qualified Building Surveyors located all over the UK, with a central claims handling office organising and ensuring your claim is handling swiftly and correctly. We’ve invested heavily in technology which allows all our remote teams to be kept abreast of your claim at anytime and anywhere.
